Well, it WAS subtext until the series finale. And Xena went for Ares at one time (approximately 20 moons ago) before the series started. She obviously didn't go for Ares because she prefers her men pale and thin like Severus.
Since I'm forced to deal with them, I think it's healthier to not despise every single one.
