Good question. I'm not sure why there are no Pythons on there (unless you count Gilliam) -- maybe at the end of the day I prefer dramas (but there ARE comedies on there. C'mon, Lord of the Rings?)

I haven't read the book yet so I don't know about ages. I don't let myself get distracted by small details like that. Haven't seen Super Troopers yet, I admit. Dreary is a great word. I should start using that more.
