I've had all day to sort of come to terms with it. While I'm not by any stretch happy, I know it's not the end of the war. Like I told Swankyfunk, I don't know what these religious people think -- that we're just going to get tired, give up and disappear forever? But like MyFriendDeb believes, she thinks a generation of people with these "old-fashioned values" has to die before we see any real progress.

I know, I see now the value of marrying as soon as the opportunity is there, since from what I've read the most problematic aspect will be trying to dissolve the existing couples retroactively. My biggest hope is there is some legal mumbo jumbo that will find a way to stamp the whole thing back down to the hysterical fundie cesspool it slurped out of.

I feel bad for your friend. Tell him I love him and I think he's A-okay. : )
