I swear, I wonder sometimes if she's an alien pod person or something. I can relate to seeing your pets as your "children," but never to the point of giving them preferential treatment over actual children.
I agree we have that responsibility. Just as I walked into a store the other day I saw a little 3- or 4-year-old girl trying to climb into a shopping cart from the ground. It started tipping over on her. Her mother had just noticed but was too far away to reach her in time. Without thinking I grabbed the opposite end and pulled it upright again. The mother thanked me and said to her, "Thank the nice lady for saving you, honey!" I honestly don't know if Nancy would have done the same thing. Probably would have considered a trip to the ER and some lifelong scars a very valuable lesson for the kid.
I never knew you smoked! I'm glad you quit. Such a filthy habit. I don't understand why more isn't done to make it illegal. Surely we've proven it's just as dangerous as drugs.
