Oh, but no you misunderstand. You must have scary music. The subtitles are simply for clarifying the mumbled or whispered dialog. So you don't have to keep adjusting the volume to hear and then suddenly get blasted out.
We do this pretty regularly too when there is a lot of traffic noise, or the dishwasher seems particularly loud. Maybe we are just getting old and deeef.
