Hmm, I never noticed I equate sci-fi with futuristic. I get less comfortable when fantasy strays past the Renaissance. Not to say that it can't be done well. It's just a preference I have.
I'm having a worse time buying Sam Neill as a menacing character. Someone should get him a rocking chair and a pipe.
