I have Vista and I really don't get what all the hate is about. The only thing that bugged me was when it first hit the market there was a lot of product incompatability, but a few months later they had patches for everything so it was no big deal.
Oh, and e-machines are kind of crap. I had one once and would never do it again. I think I got 2 years out of it. My Compaq, on the other hand, is 3 or 4 years old and I'm still happy with its performance.
