If you ever met Deb, you would know it wouldn't be a case of shoving but rather dragging kicking and screaming.

Obvs if someone were killed that would be a whole different case. But since the attorneys want to make sure the jury is completely objective and unbiased, it's in their best interest not to be coy and wait to spring that as a surprise later. They tell you all the charges up front (just not the details or any evidence), and vehicular manslaughter was not among them.

Deb was almost chosen once, except it was going to be a torture-murder case, and she has absolutely no stomach for violence (speaking of 21st century, the only movies she watches are Turner Classic B&W movies, Bogart and Bacall, that sort of thing). So she was dismissed, obvs.
