For my moviegoing public -- Identity

The minute I learned "Identity" was out on video this week, I could think of little else than getting to Blockbuster. I missed it in the theater, deeming it not a "big-screen" necessity.
This is the hotel murder mystery starring John Cusack and Ray Liotta. It will be impossible to write too much about it without giving anything away. I will only say it ranks right up there with "Memento" in my book as one of the best underrated, overlooked films of our time. The folks at Salon.com agree with me, turns out. The opening sequences seem like they could be an homage to "Memento" with the way they play with time and flashbacks. All of the performances were excellent (even if this was somewhat of a subdued role for Cusack...am I the only one who misses him in those wacky 80s movies where he first made it big?) This movie demands multiple viewings, and is fantastic for those who like to think about plots for days afterwards, turning the pieces over and over and seeing how they all fit together. I can't wait to watch it again tonight with Tery.
My rating: 5/5
