Okay, I can't find a community to post this in (though I am sure there HAS to be one out there, but I have never been known for my patience) so dammit it is going here.

I got my copy of The Two Towers on Tues (yeah, I know, me and most of the free world). I saw it only twice in the theater, but I am blessed (or in this case, cursed) with a photographic memory and I noticed this difference. (I am aware that this post will send my GQ (geek quotient) through the roof, but it is bugging me that much.) I speak of the scene when Grima Wormtongue steps out on the balcony with Saruman and beholds the vast host assembled there (DVD chapter "Isengard Unleashed"). He lets a solitary tear trail down his cheek at the sight. My problem is I could have sworn in the film he got a close up for this, but on the DVD he is in a two-shot with Saruman. It is just a second of film, but my god it is bothering me. Has anyone else noticed this? (and can anyone else direct me to a LOTR community where I can try posting this?)

ADDENDUM: As long as I am discussing TTT, I was just sitting here staring at the DVD case (because I am supposed to be working) and I demand an explanation as to why Arwen, who appears in the movie for perhaps 5 minutes, is one of the Big Heads (alongside Frodo, Gandalf and Aragorn) while Sam, Gimli and Legolas (and for that matter Gollum from a scene in "Fellowship") are all Tiny Heads down below. This seems hugely unfair.

Okay, I REALLY need to get a life and more importantly get back to work. Damn.

You know, you're right; I only saw it once in theatres (and thus, am not really into the Trilogy enough to recommend any communities, sadly), but I remember the close-up quite well. It's a conspiracy!

I KNEW it!!!!

They are probably saving the close-up for the super special extended edition. Bastards.

Thanks for backing me up on this one :)

I will now be feverishly aware of the deletion when I watch TTT this evening, you realize. :D

Oh, wow I'm sorry. But at least now you will be expecting it and not have to question your memory (or sanity...although I guess my sanity is still in question, close-up or not) as I have done today. So I actually did you a favor ;D

What?? No closeup? I do remember that scene! It was indeed a closeup. The hell...?? That closeup meant a lot! Also, the Big Heads vs. the Tiny Heads! Bah! Arrr! Sorry, I get incoherent and pirate-like when my nitpicking ire is roused.

I *KNOW*

I had to rewind when the movie was all over because I thought it was cut out completely. The moment was SO much more powerful as a close-up. They honestly think no one is paying attention. They underestimate all us nitpickers. It had DAMN well better be put back for the extended version is all I can say.

Anal-retentive moviegoers unite!!!

(no need to apologize for your pirate-like tendencies LOL)

Haha, they ALWAYS mess up the big head/little head thing.

They did on Harry Potter too. :P

I'm just still insanely excited by the RotK preview. Eeeeeh, I can't WAIT!
Seems like Merry and Pippin are going to have bigger roles, YAY. XD

I just finished watching it (RotK preview). I got chills, my eyes welled up with tears, I drooled. Very few movie trailers inspire such a variety of body functions in me. It looks fucking INCREDIBLE.

Okay, my apologies. I just watched it again and realized that the tear is not in a two-shot. However, I still maintain that the original close-up was closer and lasted longer than the DVD version (it cut away so quickly that I THOUGHT it was a two-shot). Or maybe I am grasping at straws.....
